The Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption opened in Atlanta, United States, on Monday (December 11th).
The Italian delegation is led by the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio. The Minister confirmed Italy’s commitment in playing a leading role at the international level in combating corruption and, on the margin of the Conference, held a bilateral meeting with UNODC Executive Director, Ghada Waly, with whom he further deepened the topics that were already discussed at the Conference in Palermo in September. The Minister was also involved in two important side-events on the trafficking of cultural heritage goods and the measurement of corruption.
During the Conference, Italy tabled a resolution on the links between corruption and organised crime which aims at intensifying joint efforts to prevent and combat corruption.
