In line with Italy’s traditional engagement in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, the Italian Permanent Representative, Ambassador Alessandro Cortese, has joined the “International Gender Champions” initiative, a network of around 250 personalities who hold leadership roles at an international level and are committed to breaking down gender barriers in their respective work fields.
The initiative brings together the Heads of United Nations Agencies and Permanent Representatives in Geneva, The Hague, Nairobi, New York, Paris and Vienna and constitutes the reference platform at multilateral level for fostering gender equality in decision-making processes, for instance through equal participation in events, conferences and seminars.
