Ambassador Alessandro Cortese presents his credentials to the Director General of the United Nations Office in Vienna, Mr. Yury Fedotov.

The Permanent Representative of Italy to the International Organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Alessandro Cortese, presented today his credentials to the Director General of the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV) and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Amb. Yury Fedotov.
On this occasion, Ambassador Cortese reaffirmed Italy’s full support to the activities of UNODC in the fight against organized crime, corruption, terrorism, illicit drug trafficking. Italy will continue to contribute proactively to advancing international cooperation in the fight against crime, including by sharing the expertise of its competent law enforcement and criminal justice practitioners. Italy also promotes the effective implementation of international Conventions, in particular the Palermo Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and its additional Protocols on the smuggling of migrants, trafficking in persons and illicit trafficking of firearms.
Ambassador Cortese also highlighted Italy’s interest in the activities of the other Offices of the United Nations based in Vienna, particularly the United Nations Office on Outer Space Affairs.
