Towards URC2025: Sustainable reconstruction of Ukrainian industry in a high-level dialogue organized with UNIDO

Sustainable industrial reconstruction in Ukraine was the focus of a high-level dialogue held on June 4 in Vienna. The event, which was co-hosted by the Permanent Representation of Italy to the International Organizations in Vienna, the Permanent Representation of Ukraine and organized together with UNIDO, illustrated the results already achieved under the UNIDO Programme for the Green Industrial Recovery of Ukraine (2024-2028) and presented the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference (URC2025) to be held in Rome from 10 to 11 July 2025.

Ambassador Debora Lepre reaffirmed Italy’s commitment as co-host of URC2025, underlining the role of the event in developing innovative partnerships, in mobilizing public and private capital to support the reconstruction of the country and in the process of national reforms along the path to EU accession. “A sustainable industrial recovery remains crucial and UNIDO, together with its Member States and all other international actors, can play a key role” underlined Amb. Lepre.

Mr. Sergio Monti – Head of the Office that assists the Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Reconstruction Process of Ukraine – presented the implementation methods and expected results of the URC2025 Conference, to which UNIDO is invited to participate, highlighting its strong relevance as a coordination platform with an inclusive approach and a necessary push to strengthen the international commitments of all the partners involved.
