The Permanent Mission of Italy to the International Organizations in Vienna, the Embassy of Italy in Austria, the Permanent Mission of Italy to the OSCE and the Italian Institute of Culture in Vienna are pleased to present the charity concert Sounds for Peace, that will take place on Friday 30 January at 7.30pm in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, in Vienna, in collaboration with the University of Vienna.
Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem will be performed by the University of Vienna’s Choir and Orchestra, conducted by Vijay Upadhyaya, Artistic Director of the Vienna University Philharmonic.
The concert aims to raise funds for the ShareTheMeal initiative of the United Nations World Food Programme to support people in situations of severe food insecurity. The challenge is to provide 200.000 meals (https://bit.ly/Sounds4Peace).
The concert takes place during the Olympic Truce, the tradition of ceasefire that accompanies the Olympic Games. Thus, the concert anticipates the spirit of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, which will begin on February 6, reaffirming the values of solidarity, dialogue, and international cooperation.
