Ambassador Debora Lepre, Permanent Representative to the International Organisations in Vienna, delivered an opening speech at the event “Chi vuol essere STEM sia!“, organised by ENEA in collaboration with ASI, INAF, INFN, ISS, ISTAT and Sapienza University of Rome, on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Tuesday 11 February.
The initiative addresses secondary school students, aiming to raise young people’s awareness of the importance of women’s involvement in STEM disciplines.
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Lepre emphasised that gender equality is now recognised as a priority at an international level and that it is not only a fundamental right, but a true agent of growth and change for society as a whole. At a time when the scientific and technological sector is expected to strongly expand, it is essential to involve all available human resources, with a specific focus on equal opportunities for women and girls.
